Whether they're developing new tools or technology, creating cutting edge experiments or applying their skills to new disciplines, Science Technicians are essential for work and research at the University of Warwick.

On the evenings of the 25th November and 2nd December, we filled the Warwick Arts Centre foyer with scientific activities and demonstrations from staff and students at the University of Warwick at the Live labs! We got our hands on lots of different science happening around the university before seeing it on the stage at the Warwick Christmas lectures, organised by the department of physics.

On Saturday 30 November we headed to the Royal Priors shopping centre in Leamington Spa to showcase undergraduate student research and public engagement skills.

On Saturday 26th October, we travelled to Leamington Spa and filled the library, gallery and museum of the Royal Pump Rooms with lots of fun activities and demonstrations for the Resonate Festival of Social Science Day Out - part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science.

The theme for this year’s ESRC Festival of Social Science was ‘Our Digital Lives’, and we decided to explore some of the impacts of growing digitalisation at our Resonate Late, ‘It’s All Digital’.

Our first event of the Resonate Festival of Social Science 2024 saw 4 academics from the Department of Politics and International Studies discussing climate change with 44 wonderful members of the public!

On Monday 8th July over 700 teachers and pupils from over 40 Coventry schools took part in the finale of the Flame of Friendship.

Despite the recent bad weather, the sun was shining bright on Sunday 2nd June 2024 for the Resonate Festival of Arts and Culture – Day Out! We welcomed over 600 visitors to the Faculty of Arts Building and Oculus Field for a day of fun and creativity as we explored World Culture together.

Explore this fascinating digital exhibition about early modern divination. First organised by Dr Martha McGill, Imogen Knox and Francesca Farnell and hosted at Coventry Central Library as part of the 2022 Resonate Festival, ‘Stars, Sieves and Stories’ is now available online.

On Saturday 6th April 2024 we welcomed lots of eager bookworms to the Warwick Arts Centre for a celebration of reading, stories and languages! Perceptive readers will note that this was a few months ago – it’s been go, go, go in the Resonate team since then, but we wanted to sit down and reflect on what a great event we had!

At this event we learned about the importance of including public voice when helping to advise policy decision makers, and got to experience what it might be like to be part of a Patient and Public Involvement Group.

A fun day was had by all at this festival-style day for all ages!

An exciting collaboration between scientists from the University of Warwick, Imperial College London and Cambridge University and dance artists from The Place.

On Thursday 7th March, we popped up at the Tin Music and Arts in Coventry for ‘Behind the Scenes with Science Technicians’. In a Resonate first, all of the evenings talks were by Science Technicians.

For our first event of the Resonate Festival of Science and Technology, we spent the evening with four Warwick researchers who all study the Weather in different ways.

We took over an empty shop unit in Leamington Spa to showcase exciting new research from University of Warwick students.
