The Flame of Friendship Finale

  • University of Warwick Coventry, England, CV4 7AL United Kingdom (map)

In the run up to the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic games, 62 Coventry primary, secondary and special educational needs schools are currently participating in a torch relay. Join us for the finale!

At the Finale, 700+ Coventry pupils and teachers will take part in an Olympic-themed dance led by the Royal Opera House which begins once the torch arrives, followed by a procession to the Sports Hub where the event will end with a closing ceremony.

The torch is bespoke to this event, designed as part of a competition in which more than 2,000 Coventry pupils took part. The winning design was submitted by a pupil from Finham Park School and has subsequently been redeveloped at WMG, on the University of Warwick campus, by members of their technical team and four T Level students from Rugby College (part of WCG).

The event celebrates friendship, team work, sports and international collegiality - we’d love for you to join us at the Finale and cheer on the kids!

This event takes place on the University of Warwick campus and the closest car park is Cryfield Village car park. You are welcome to join us to cheer on the dance and procession however members of the public cannot attend the closing ceremony. However, you are able to watch the entire finale online, please use the link that will be provided on the day on the Flame of Friendship page in the ‘Stories’ section of this website - here,

This is a Coventry schools activity led by Earlsdon Primary School and supported by the Warwick Institute of Engagement on behalf of the University of Warwick.
