Molecular Fireworks - the magic under the microscope!

Last week we visited the Royal Priors Shopping Centre to share the entries to our Molecular Fireworks competition! This competition was a chance for researchers from the University to submit images they had taken with any microscope, that reminded them of a firework. We had some incredible images from Warwick Medical School, the School of Life Sciences and the Department of Physics showing us everything from DNA to lab-grown diamonds! The entries were displayed in a shop space where the public could come and vote for their favourite, as well as design their own glowing pictures. We also looked at how household items like olive oil and tonic water look very different under UV light…

You can view all the entries to the competition at our Molecular Fireworks Online Gallery, and congratulations to the winners!
