From people to plants, we all rely on communities of microorganisms… but how much do we really know about them?
Microbiomes (the community of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses that are found in a particular place) are integral to us and to most living organisms. They play critical roles in human health by controlling important body functions. We know a lot more about these complex microbial communities now, yet, how thousands of microbes communicate with each other and with their ‘hosts’ to orchestrate key functions remains a mystery.
In this event we will have talks from Warwick researchers doing cutting-edge microbiome research and a range of interactive activities. We will discuss microbiomes across a range of organisms- in mosquitos, plants and in different human body sites.
Hear from experts on these exciting topics:
Professor Meera Unnikrishnan - Gut Microbiomes and Infection
Dr Laura Chatterley - Exploring the Mosquito Microbiome
Dr Alexiane Decout - The Vaginal Microbiome
Dr Liam Walker - Microbiomes and Plant Health
Doors open at 5:30pm and light refreshments will be provided. Please note the recommended age for this event is 14+.
Please note: These talks will cover topics including fertility and pregnancy loss.
This event is organised by the School of Life Sciences and Warwick Medical School and shared by Resonate.
