Families are invited to attend Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum on the 20th November for a FREE session of interactive art and craft activities aimed at children and families. The activities will bring together themes of genetics, heritability, and identity and will include a child-friendly pre-recorded presentation by a genetics expert. The children will each contribute artwork, based around their identity, that will be transformed into a sculpture by artist Tammy Woodrow. The final sculpture will be displayed in the art gallery for public viewing. There is no need to book, just drop-in to either the morning session (10am - 12pm) or the afternoon session (1pm - 3pm) to get involved!

For those unable to come, or who would prefer to avoid in-person events, activity boxes containing arts materials can be collected from the Gallery from 13th November and the art work completed at home (with artwork returned on/before the 20th to ensure it is included in the sculpture). What’s it about?

What makes you who you are? What characteristics did you inherit, and how do they influence your identity? This event invites budding artists aged 7-12 (although open to all ages) to explore these questions through interactive games and craft activities, bringing questions of identity and genetics to life. There'll be the chance to hear from a genetics expert, and to create a collaborative sculpture full of personality using your artwork, with artist Tammy Woodrow. The finished sculpture will be displayed in Leamington Spa Museum and Art Gallery until December 2021, alongside the I:DNA art installation [www.warwick.ac.uk/idna].
