This event is organised by the Modern Records Centre as part of Heritage Open Days and is shared with you by Resonate.

Dive into the Olympics: Sports in the Archives

The Modern Records Centre, the UK's leading industrial and political history archive, invites you to a talk about sports in the archives, alongside our Olympics in the Archives exhibition.

Discover the diversity and richness of The Modern Records Centre (MRC) at the University of Warwick, which celebrates its 60th Anniversary next year, with a dive into sporting heritage in this Olympic year. MRC, founded in 1973, has a rich range of records in its care, with over 1500 collections specialising in political, economic, and social history, with a particular focus on industrial relations, industrial politics, protests and the people involved.

Our 2024 summer and autumn exhibition, Olympics in the Archives, showcases the sporting politics at play within the pages of the MRC's collections, and a talk will provide a brief history of the MRC before diving into a selection of sporting stories, illustrating the richness and variety of our collections, in our seminar room.

Tours and talks are taking place on Tuesday 10 September and Thursday 12 September from 11:00 - 12:30am - booking is required.
