What makes museum collections better than digital representations? Are there things we can only find out through physical encounters with objects? And can an image or a virtual model sometimes be more revealing than the real thing? Come and handle some of the oldest pieces from the collection at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum – prehistoric flint tools – and tell us how they make you feel. Then explore 3D photogrammetry models of objects and artworks, and compare them with the real things on display in the galleries!
Please note that this activity will take place in 15 minute sessions, so please check timings on the day. This is recommended for ages 7+, and involves handling real museum objects. You will be given protective gloves which must be worn when requested by staff. The location is upstairs; there is a stairlift which can be operated by staff if required. -
