A free schools workshop for Key Stage 2 pupils

In this free workshop, pupils will explore engineering, design and manufacture in an interactive and practical way using a simple but unobvious product that can be used to protect buildings, protect people and in some cases be part of attractive architectural features. Pupils, working in teams, will reverse design the product, discussing the different parts of the design and the impact of changing them. We’ll then look at the manufacturing process of the basket by making individual mock versions of the item which can be taken home. The session will conclude with each pupil making their own pyramid which, when joined together, will result in a 4m tall giant pyramid (space and weather permitting). The workshop is designed to challenge pupils to communicate, practice, test and create using real life examples of engineering practices and processes.

The workshop will be supported by University staff, students and will be delivered on the University of Warwick campus for up to 64 KS2 pupils.
