Sun and Space
Come along for astronomy talks and trivia! No need to book, simply come along on the night. Here’s what to expect:
Why are we interested in waves on the Sun?
Dr. Sergey Belov, Researcher at the University of Warwick
If waves did not exist, our world would be quiet and dark. Hopefully, waves are present almost everywhere, even at the Sun. In this talk, we found out what waves travel across our star, how we can see these waves and what the Sun’s secrets they can tell us.
Striving for sustainability in the space domain
Dr. James Blake, Researcher at the University of Warwick
As a society, we rely on satellites for a host of services, from telling us that the weather’s going to be nice, to guiding us back home when that turns out to be wrong! Over time, however, a great deal of mess has started to build up in Earth orbit, putting the satellites and the services they provide at risk. This talk will examine where all the mess came from, why we should all care about tidying it up, and how we might go about doing that.
This event is organised by the University of Warwick Physics Department and shared by Resonate.
